Can you build a chair that will hold Goldilocks?
Can you construct a tree that will hold 26 letters of the alphabet?
Our Pre-K-1st grade summer program students can!
At CWSCS, our theme this summer is "Full Steam Ahead!" Our students have been participating in a variety of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) challenges that come from well-known children's stories.
Students have been curious, creative problem-solvers as they work collaboratively to plan, build, and test out their ideas. Students have also had many hands-on manipulatives available to explore including MagnaTiles, Create-A-Path Magnets, Create-A-Chain Reaction kit, and design and build engineering centers.
Our students have also had to opportunity to explore in our outdoor classroom. They have had a blast climbing across logs, searching for bugs, and getting to work in our school garden. They were excited to pick our first strawberry (cut into 17 pieces so everyone could try it!) and couldn't resist tasting our yummy lettuce. It has been wonderful seeing our students develop a love for learning and God's creation!
